William Morris Daisy Art Print
William Morris Daisy Art Print
Daisy holds a special place in the William Morris story — it is one of his very first wallpaper designs, created in 1862 when Morris was just 28 years old, and it captures something essential about his vision of art: simple, honest, and rooted in the natural world.
About the design
Designed in 1862 for Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co., Daisy was among the first wallpapers the company produced and one of the first designs to bring Morris's aesthetic principles to a domestic interior. The pattern takes the most familiar and unpretentious of English wildflowers and elevates it through repetition, symmetry and careful stylisation into something genuinely beautiful.
The design uses a simple, flat repeat of daisy heads, buds and leaves on a pale ground — restrained in colour, modest in scale, and deeply appealing in its directness. Morris believed that everyday objects should be beautiful, and Daisy embodies that belief more purely than almost any other design he produced. It has been in continuous production by Morris & Co. for over 160 years.

How to style it
Daisy's simplicity and lightness makes it one of the most versatile Morris designs for modern interiors. The soft palette suits nurseries, bedrooms, hallways and kitchens, and the modest scale works well in smaller rooms. An excellent introduction to William Morris for those new to his work, and a beautiful companion piece for other early Morris designs. Works in a simple white or natural wood frame.
