Vintage Babar Flamingo Lake Print | Sage Green Safari Nursery Wall Art
Beneath a row of soft apricot mountains, the still green water of a lake catches the evening light. Babar, crowned and dressed in his smart green suit, stands at the water's edge with an old elephant friend, gazing out over a kingdom alive with birds. Pink flamingos wade through the reeds on long, elegant legs, a pair of plump pelicans keeps watch over a nest of eggs, and an ibis rests beneath a great leafy tree. Ducklings paddle across the shallows, butterflies flit between red poppies, and a cheeky little monkey scampers through the flowers at their feet.
This gentle scene comes from the vintage Babar storybooks of the 1930s, drawn in delicate watercolour washes of sage, moss, blush pink and buttercream. It's full of tiny details for small eyes to discover, and the kind of quiet, dreamy picture that makes a lovely bedtime companion.
We've set it on a scalloped buttercream mount within a sage green and white striped border, giving it a fresh, garden-room feel. It's perfect for a sage or green nursery, a safari-themed playroom or a reading corner. A treasured gift for a new baby, a christening or a first birthday.
